Arsonists destroyed an office and cars in a blaze on a car sales forecourt in The Brook, Chatham, after stealing a Range Rover

Arsonists destroyed an office building and a number of cars overnight.

The Regency Motor Company forecourt in The Brook, Chatham, was targeted at 1am this morning.

One vehicle, a Range Rover, was stolen, along with a safe containing some cash.

Fifteen firefighters from Medway and Strood were called to the scene where they found an outdoor cabin, used as an office, ablaze.

One of the crew who attended said: "It looked like somebody had broken into the cabin to steal car keys and then set it alight.

"It was completely destroyed and about six cars surrounding it were also damaged by the heat and the smoke."

Crews used breathing apparatus to put out the fire and it took them two hours.

The matter was handed over the police and inquiries are ongoing.
