London property firm Ganco Ltd also want to build behind the store where deliveries are made.

It hopes to get permission to build 24 apartments with one and two bedrooms, some of which would be maisonettes.

There are also plans for a green rooftop.

Under the plans, the homes would be accessed from Jeffrey Street and Sappers Walk.

The developer says there would be no provision of parking because of how close the site is to public transport, although there would be space for cycle storage and motorbikes.

A decision on the plans is expected by Friday, February 17.
