A damaged moped was seen lying on its side in the car park, while officers were seen talking to two teenagers.

“Two guys were on a moped and the police were chasing them down here,” said one bystander. “They carried on going and tried to sneak through the cars.

“There’s an alleyway around the back and I think they were trying to get through the cars to get there.”

A statement from Kent Police said: “An 18-year-old man was arrested at 10.25am on Wednesday July 26 after he failed to stop for officers when requested to do so in Medway City Estate.

“He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving without a licence or insurance and possession of cannabis.”

The teenager was later released on bail pending further investigation.
