Police investigate suspicious car fire in Strood

A car was destroyed in a fire believed to have been started deliberately.

The silver Citroen was found ablaze in Columbine Road, Strood, at 1am today.

Crews were spent 35 minutes extinguishing the flames.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: “It is being treated as a suspected malicious fire and police are investigating.”

Crews were called to Granville Road, Gillingham, at 8pm on Sunday after reports of a fence fire.

Firefighters spent 20 minutes on the scene tackling the blaze, which had spread to a grass area.

The cause of this fire is unknown.
