A potential opening date has been announced for a burger chain’s first Kent branch.

Food chain 12th Street applied for planning permission from Medway Council to transform an empty store in Chatham Dockside.

It is hoping to open inside the vacant unit between pizza chain Fireaway and fast food franchise Taco Bell along The Quays, Dock Head Road.

Permission has been sought from Medway Council for the installation of shop signs outside the unit in Jetty 5, Chatham Maritime.

And despite not being approved, restaurant bosses say as the application is only for signage there should not be an issue and are remaining hopeful for a late August or early September opening.

Works to get the building ready to launch are expected to start in the middle of next month with new gas and electrics also being installed.

12th Street claim to be the "only place to get a true taste of America" and is known for its giant 100% Angus beef smash burgers.

Menu items also include chicken burgers, wings, loaded fries, onion rings, breakfast options, milkshakes and sweet treats.

It does not have any branches in the county currently with the closest branches in Southend or Romford, Essex.

A decision date has not yet been set.
