Jools Holland pays tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II ahead of her becoming longest serving British monarch.

Jools Holland has paid tribute to the Queen ahead of her becoming the longest serving British monarch.

On Wednesday, Elizabeth II will have been on the throne longer than her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria, who reigned for 63 years and 216 days.

Mr Holland, a deputy lieutenant of Kent, said: “I’m so delighted that the Queen will be celebrating being the longest reigning monarch that this country has known.

“She has reigned over the most peaceful and prosperous years Britain has ever seen, years of extraordinary change.

“She has been a perfect and shining example to all of us and has dedicated her life to the service others and of our nation.

“In her typically modest style she did not want a big hoo ha made out of this monumental milestone but I know myself and many of my fellow countrymen and women and people all over the Commonwealth will be quietly reflecting on how fortunate we have been to have had such a wonderful monarch.
