A WAVE of pink swept across Capstone Farm Country Park when more than 2,500 women and girls took part in the Race for Life.
Runners of all ages gathered at the park in Chatham today (Sunday) to complete the 5km course to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The winner was 12-year-old Shannon Elvy, from Rainham.
The Chatham Grammar school pupil and keen cross country runner managed to raise about £80 for the cause.
Shannon, who is a runner for the Medway Park Phoenix Club, crossed the line in around 18 minutes.

One of the youngest to cross the line was Rochester's Amy Barrance, four, who ran the race with her mum Lisa. The pair (pictured above with fellow runners) ran the race in memory of their Gramps, Lisa’s grandad, who passed away in July 2010.
