Road accident in Strood

A crash between two cars is causing tailbacks on the A2 in Strood.

The incident happened in London Road at the Gun Lane junction at around 2.20pm. A witness reported seeing two police cars, an ambulance and a fire engine on the scene.

The crash, between a Renault Scenic and another car, is said to be affecting traffic in both directions.

Police are working to remove the cars and the Highways Agency is due to attend to clear an oil spillage.

No one is believed to have sustained serious injuries in the incident.

Earlier today, a Range Rover ended up in a ditch after coming off the road near Hoo.

Firefighters and police were called to the Ratcliffe Highway at 6.39am after the car, which was travelling towards Grain, left the road and ended up on its side.

A fire crew from Strood helped the driver, thought to be about 60, to climb out. No other vehicles were involved.
