A busy road in Rainham had to be closed this afternoon after a fire.

Three crews were called to Pump Lane at about 1.30pm when fir trees and rubbish had been set alight.

Firefighters were at the scene until shortly after 3pm.

The road was closed between Lower Rainham Road and Beechings Way until 3.45pm.

It is not known if the fire is being treated as suspicious.
