Officers are still at the scene of a suspected hit and run which happened last night.

New Road in Chatham is currently closed to traffic near the junction with Otway Terrace, while officers continue to investigate

This morning investigators could be seen taking pictures of the scene and examining the crash site.

Plastic sheeting covered up sections of the road, which was also littered with debris.

Police markers and a pair of trainers could also be seen in the road.

Drivers have been advised to use alternative routes.

Police have since confirmed the pedestrian died at the scene.
