Person trapped under vehicle on Cookham Hill, Borstal, near Sidney Road

A road has reopened after a person was trapped beneath a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle had been injured after it overturned at Cookham Hill, Borstal, near Sidney Road.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 12.46pm to a report that a vehicle in Cookham Hill, Borstal had overturned and the driver had been injured.

"Officers, South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and the driver was treated for injuries. He has been taken to a London hospital for further medical attention."

A motorist, who lives in Borstal but didn't want to be named, described the scene at the time.

They said: "As I drove up Maidstone Road, to turn into Priestfields there was an ambulance, an incident support vehicle and a police car all in convoy pulling out of Priestfields and driving up Maidstone Road.

"Then as I went along Borstal Street the police were just putting their blue tape up and were closing Cookham Hill.

"There was a digger in the road and some rubble, I don't know if someone has been injured by the falling rubble or not, but I think it has something to do with that."

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman also confirmed the services attendance but were not needed.

She said: "The crew helped to make the scene safe, and duty of care was passed to SECAmb and Kent Police."

There were also reports of heavy traffic in the area due to the incident.
