Rubbish was on fire on small patch of wasteland in a residential street this morning.
The fire service was called to Cross Street in Chatham just before 5am.
Smoke plumes could be seen rising above the rooftops from the High Street.
One fire engine and crews used a hose reel to extinguish the flames.
The job was finished at 5.09am.
