Traffic delays on M2 between Junction 2 and 3 near Strood and Rochester after crash

A multi-vehicle crash caused severe delays on the M2 tonight.

Three lanes were closed due to the crash on the coastbound carriageway between Junction 2 A228 Sundridge Hill for Strood and Junction 3 for Chatham and Rochester.

It is understood the crash happened shortly after 6pm.

And there were delays of more than an hour in the area, with queues building on the M2.

National Highways tweeted: “Lanes one and two out of four are closed on the M2 eastbound between Junction 2 and 3 due to a collision.

"Kent Police are in attendance.

“There are delays of at least 60 minutes above normal travel times. Please allow extra journey time.”

All lanes had been reopened by 8.30pm.

Meanwhile, the M2 coastbound exit slip road at Junction 3 was partially blocked due to a broken-down vehicle, which was causing delays.

It was cleared by 8.40pm.
