Michael Ball to perform with Medway members of The Music Man Project at The Royal Albert Hall

A group of musicians are preparing for a most unforgettable night as they take to the Royal Albert Hall stage with Michael Ball.

The concert has been organised by The Music Man Project - which provides musical education and performance for people with learning disabilities - and will feature more than 80 Medway members singing alongside the award-winning entertainer and the band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines.

The showcase has been years in the making and hopes to present the talents of members of the group across the UK.

The group was launched to make music more accessible to those with learning difficulties, with Kent-based groups set up under the tutelage of former music teacher Sarah Mann.

A special musical has been written by the organisation’s chief executive David Stanley and will be performed for the first time on the night.

Michael Ball will also sing a new number, called Make a Difference. It is one of two songs written by Kent regional director Sarah.

Two singers who are part of the group, Harry Barnett and Thomas Hallett, will be performing their own solos.

Sarah said: “We can’t believe that it’s finally happening.

“It’s going to be such a great evening and the culmination of a lot of hard work.

“Our musicians are incredible; they never cease to amaze us with all they achieve despite the challenges they face – they are such an inspiration.”

Chief executive David Stanley said: “This concert will be a night the audience and The Music Man Project will never forget.

“It will be an emotional rollercoaster, filled with joy, laughter, and tears.

“But most of all, it will be a night of magic, as we celebrate the power of music to bring people together and create a sense of community.”
