Storm Ciara: Chatham Library and Pentagon Centre closed

A library and a shopping centre have been forced to close due to adverse weather.

Chatham Library and the adjoining car park have both been closed, while the town's Pentagon Centre has also been shut.

Motorists who have been parking in the Riverside car park off Dock Road are advised to move their vehicles as soon as they can.

The Community Hub will be closed until at least Wednesday, February 12, whilst damage is being assessed.

Strong winds from Storm Ciara are expected to remain across the county today until 7pm.

Meanwhile, a flood warning has been put in place on the Isle of Grain.

The Environment Agency has advised the highest tide level will be at 12.45pm today and flooding will be possible in the two hours before or after.

They have advised people to be careful walking by the estuary as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.

A Severe Weather Emergency Protocol has also been imposed by Medway Council which means emergency accommodation is open to rough sleepers.

Those needing accommodation should go to Kingsley House in Balmoral Road, Gillingham, today and tomorrow by 5.15pm.

Water has been collecting at Riverside Tavern in Canal Road, Strood, which flooded back in October.

Flooding has set in across the Towns including on the Medway City Estate in Strood and St Mary's Island in Chatham.

At the weekend, the Towns were battered by heavy winds causing roads to be cut off.
