A fire that broke out at a pub in the early hours of this morning is being treated as suspicious.

The alarm was raised after a blaze started in the smoking shelter at The Bounty pub in Bligh Way, Strood.

Crews from Strood fire station were called to the incident at 3am today when the shelter had already been alight for some time.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: "The shelter was attached to the pub so potentially it could have been quite dangerous. In the end the fire didn't take too long to put out."
