Conifer tree fire in Clifton Close, Strood, leads to three arrests on suspicion of arson

Three young men were arrested after a suspected arson in Strood last week.

A 15-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were held in police custody following the blaze on Thursday night, but later released without charge.

Firefighters and police were called to reports that conifer trees had been set alight in Clifton Close at 7.06pm.

The fire spread to a house and damaged its guttering. Firefighters checked the loft using a thermal imaging camera, but no further damage to the property was found.

They were at the scene for an hour but the fire had been put out by 7.32pm.
