Three taken to hospital after two-vehicle crash at the Medway Tunnel

Three people have been taken to hospital after a two-car crash.

Emergency services were called to the Medway Tunnel shortly before midday after reports of an accident on the carriageway towards Strood.

Two fire crews and paramedics also attended the scene.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Services spokesman said: "On arrival crews found a woman trapped in one of the cars by her injuries.

"Crews used hydraulic rescue gear to gain access to the woman, she was then supported out of the vehicle and placed in the care of paramedics."

In total three people were taken to a local hospital with injuries which Kent Police says are not believed to be life threatening.

Although the the tunnel remained open, a lane closure had been put in place to allow the vehicles to be recovered.

The emergency services had left by 1.15pm.
