Police attended an unusual call out as they raced to recover a horse on a train line.

Officers from British Transport Police were called to the lines on the Hoo peninsula earlier today.

The small black-and-white equestrian escapee had managed to get itself stuck on the lines.

Thankfully, members of the public managed to cut through the wire fence bordering the tracks and free the animal.

When the officers arrived, they helped the animal off the lines safely, with one thoughtful officer even thinking to give it an apple.

However, following contact with the RSPCA, no owner for the horse could be located.

A spokesperson confirmed on twitter, now known as X, that the horse would be handed over to the charity to be re-homed.

“We attended a different kind of job this morning where a horse had got itself stuck on the railway lines at Hoo,” they explained

“Luckily members of the public had managed to cut the fence and secure the horse. Officers assisted to get the horse safely off the lines.

“Officers then communicated with the RSPCA as to the best course of action.

“It was decided as there were no owner details the RSPCA would collect the horse to be re-homed.”
