A slip road into the Medway Tunnel was closed due to reports of a police incident.

The west-bound A289 access between Gillingham and Strood was shut earlier this afternoon.

The incident is reported to have happened at Maritime Way, according to Medway Highways.

Motorists were advised to find alternative routes where possible.

The road is understood to have reopened.

Police have been contacted for more information.
