Four men who were found in the woods after a three-mile helicopter search have been charged with attempted theft.

Witnesses reported people trying to break into an isolated business site in Warren Road, half-way down Blue Bell Hill, at 11.20pm on Sunday.

Officers attended and searched the area using the Kent and Essex police helicopter, which contains thermal imaging equipment and a 30 million candle-power searchlight.

Four men were arrested an hour later in woodland near Hill Road, Wouldham, three miles away.

All four men were charged with attempted theft and bailed until February 15.
They included William Smith, 22, and Anthony Paul Bishop, 40, who both live in Miller Close, Sittingbourne.

Also charged were Albert Lee Wilson, 18, of Cradducks Lane, Tonbridge, and Joby Wilson, 38, of Cranwell Road, Tunbridge Wells.
