Van engulfed in flames in Meresborough Road, Rainham

A witness has described seeing flames engulf a van in a country lane.

The white vehicle was abandoned in Meresborough Road, Rainham, in the early hours of this morning (Sunday, March 31).

Then this afternoon a passerby captured the moment the van was in flames burning beside a woodland track.

The witness described the scene: “I heard music blaring from the van and then it went up in flames.

“Then I saw two young boys running through the woods away from the van.”

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to reports of a van alight on Meresborough Road in Rainham.

“One fire engine attended, and crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.

“There were no reported injuries.”

Kent Police have been contacted for further information.
