Woman and girl, 10, taken to London hospital after being hit by a car on A230 Horsted Way, Chatham

A 10-year-old girl and a woman have been taken to hospital after they were hit by a car.

The incident happened on the A230 Horsted Way, Chatham at about 6.15pm yesterday.

The woman and child were taken to a London hospital by paramedics.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Horsted Way was closed at both ends of the road following the incident.

Arriva bus services were among the vehicles to be rerouted.

The company took to social media to tell passengers its services were being diverted via City Way and Pattens Lane but Maidstone-bound buses were unaffected.

Traffic information service Inrix said in an update at 8.30pm the road had cleared and the police incident was over.

The ambulance service has been approached for more information.
