A woman, believed to be from Gillingham, has died after being hit by a train on the London Underground this morning.

She was hit by a westbound District line train at Victoria Underground Station at around 10.30am.

Medics from the London Ambulance Service attended, but the woman, who is thought to be 21, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The station was closed for more than an hour after the incident.

A British Transport Police spokesman said the death wasn’t being treated as suspicious and a report was being prepared for the coroner.

The woman's family have been informed.
