Chatham Hill eastbound closed yesterday at Luton Arches after woman crashed into railings and was charged with drink driving.

A woman has been charged with drink driving after an accident at Luton Arches last night.

Chatham Hill eastbound was closed off at around 5pm after a black Vauxhall Zafira crashed through nearby railings.

Police were called to the collision, at the junction of Chatham Hill and Luton Arches.

Samantha King, 25, of Gillingham, was charged with driving with excess breath alcohol and bailed until April 28.

On Facebook people were posting about the crash, which was during rush hour traffic.

Gill Prince said: "I was there just now, horrible accident, no idea how the car came to be facing the way it was.

"Didn't look good as I passed, lots of people crowded around someone on the pavement.

"Police and ambulance arrived just as I did. Good wishes to those injured."

South East Coast Ambulance were also at the scene but no injuries were reported.
