Woman appears in court after pensioner assaulted in Chatham town centre

A suspected robber has appeared in court after an 89-year-old man was assaulted.

The pensioner reported his phone had been stolen during the incident in Chatham town centre.

It is alleged to have happened at around 4.30pm last Friday (April 12).

A woman was arrested later the same day and taken into custody and officers also seized a quantity of cannabis and crack cocaine.

Pamela Jardine, of Luton Road, Chatham, was charged with robbery, possession of crack cocaine and possession of cannabis.

The 41-year-old was additionally charged with theft, racially aggravated assault and assault by beating in connection with a separate incident inside a Chatham shop, on the same day she was arrested.

Jardine appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday. She was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, May 13.
