Woman seriously hurt in hit and run in Wainscott Road, Wainscott

A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after being seriously injured in an alleged hit and run.

The 36-year-old was hit by a silver BMW 320D in Wainscott Road, Wainscott at around 7pm yesterday.

The driver is believed to have been travelling from the direction of the A228 towards Hoo Road and is thought to have left the scene.

The victim was taken to a London hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

A 34-year-old man from Gillingham was later arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive through drugs and failing to stop after an accident.

Officers from the serious collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses.
