Youth spotted with gun at Rainham railway station

A youth has reportedly been seen brandishing a gun on a platform at a railway station.

Officers from the British Transport Police were called shortly before 7pm yesterday after someone on a train spotted the youth on platform 1 apparently pulling out the firearm.

The incident happened as the high speed train left Rainham at 6.44pm.

It is understood the youth seen with the firearm was with another youngster.

A spokesman for the British Transport police confirmed officers had received a report a person was reportedly seen with a firearm on the platform of the station.

He added: “British Transport Police were called out to the scene and carried out a search of the area, but no one was traced.

“Officers continue to make inquiries and anyone with information can text 61016 quoting reference 389 18/12/17."
