Chatham Town Football Club are supporting the Gillingham Street Angels

The first step of the ongoing project was the installation of a clothes recycling bin at the ground. Supporters of the club and other members of the public can recycle their unwanted clothes which will be passed on to the local homeless population.

Chats chairman Kevin Hake said: “Neil Charlick and his team at Gillingham Street Angels work tirelessly around the clock to ensure that all of Gillingham and Chatham’s most vulnerable residents are regularly fed and have essential items to assist with their living arrangements.”

The Angels have been operating from their shop in Skinner Street, Gillingham and recently branched out, renting a warehouse in Chatham due to unprecedented demand for their charitable services.

They have been serving up to 9,000 meals per month to Medway’s most vulnerable residents, and this hasn’t gone unnoticed by the football club.

Mr Hake said: “It’s the least we can do to support this essential service in these worrying times.

“We will be working closely with Gillingham Street Angels and other homeless charities to assist in any way we can.”

The football club are also planning a fundraising day for the Angels when football and fans can safely return to the Bauvill Stadium.
