Chatham Town chairman Kevin Hake and director of football Carl Laraman to remain in charge for remainder of the Southern Counties East Premier Division season

Chatham chairman Kevin Hake and director of football Carl Laraman will continue to manage the first team for the remainder of the season.

The ambitious Southern Counties East side were left without a manager just days before the start of the season when Scott Lindsey left for a no.2 job at League 2 Swindon Town.

Hake and Laraman took over on a caretaker basis and have been keen to build on the platform laid by the former boss. Despite many applications for the role, Hake says they will continue as they are.

Laraman has years of coaching experience behind him while Hake has previously managed at Sheppey United.

Chats bounced back on Monday with a 2-0 win over K Sports having lost 3-2 at Sheppey on the Saturday, conceding three second half goals after leading 2-0 at the break.

Hake said: “Larry, myself and the players are determined to make this club a success and one defeat this early will not stop us striving to achieve this.

“Larry and myself both spoke at length over the weekend and we believe it’s best for the club if we remain in charge for the rest of the season.

"The lads have been great for us and we felt we needed to show them we are just as committed to the cause as they are so we told them be for the game versus K Sports.”
