Chatham Town manager-chairman Kevin Hake looks ahead to top-three Isthmian South East clash at Beckenham Town

The big matches keep coming for new Isthmian South East frontrunners Chatham, who tonight are at promotion rivals Beckenham.

Chatham, on a six-game winning streak, will extend their advantage at the summit to five points with another victory.

“It’s been a difficult run for us because we’re playing top opponents,” said manager-chairman Kevin Hake, after their 4-1 victory on Saturday at Ashford.

“It’s disappointing the Whitehawk game was called off last Tuesday night because we wanted to keep the run going.

“But we’ll go to Beckenham with an open mind and, hopefully, we’ll give a good account of ourselves.”

Beckenham, though, are third in the table themselves and could move to within a point of Chats with a win after their weekend 1-0 success over strugglers Sittingbourne. Second-placed Ramsgate, who yesterday surprisingly parted company with ex-Gillingham boss Steve Lovell, are nestled in between them.

That shows - while things may be going extremely well for the Medway outfit - that’ll count for little if they aren’t able to maintain their good form.

“Exactly that,” Hake said. “That’s why Saturday’s game is been, done and over.

“Now, it’s on to the next one.”

Chatham will aim to do the double over Beckenham, having beaten them 3-0 in front of more than 1,000 fans at the Bauvill Stadium in their last home fixture.
