Gillingham loan defender Adam Chicksen returns to Brighton & Hove Albion for treatment

Adam Chicksen has returned to parent club Brighton to recover from injury.

A recurrence of an old knee problem could spell the end of his current loan.

Chicksen played six games for the Gills after arriving on loan but was sent home ahead of the Scunthorpe game due to illness.

Since then he has picked up an injury and is receiving treatment back at Brighton. His current deal runs until March 24.

Gills boss Justin Edinburgh said: “He has had an injection in the area and I am not sure if he will be available for the weekend and I am not sure if Adam will be available before his loan runs out.

“I am not sure if we will see anymore of him unfortunately

“That’s way the luck is going at the moment, he was ill at Scunthorpe and with the numbers as low as they were, we took no chances and sent him home.

“He has had a recurrence of a muscle injury in and around the knee area and he hasn’t been able to shake it off. He has had an injection and we will see if that speeds up the recovery.”
