Manager Justin Edinburgh says Gillingham dismiss lowly Oldham Athletic at their peril as third plays 18th in League 1

Justin Edinburgh expects Oldham to be dangerous opponents this weekend.

The Latics sit 18th in League 1 but are unbeaten under new boss David Dunn.

The former Blackburn and Birmingham midfielder took charge in mid-September and has guided his side to three straight draws.

Gills manager Edinburgh knows to be wary of a team who, like high-flying Gills, have lost just twice this season.

He said: “David Dunn has been a top player and it’s good to see people getting opportunities.

“I am sure there is so much he wants to do in a short space of time and they will be a dangerous opposition. We will have to be on our game again.”

The Gills have won all five home games this season – a run that stretches to eight in total.

“We know that any success will be based on home form,” added Edinburgh.

“We have been excellent so far and have to continue that. We have another tough game coming up, against an Oldham side who don’t lose many. They draw a lot."
