Gillingham and Shrewsbury face FA disciplinary charges following League 1 match

Gillingham have been hit with two FA charges following the brawl at Shrewsbury last weekend.

Players and management were involved in scuffles at the end of the League 1 match following red cards for a player from each team. A skirmish then saw the Shrewsbury substitute goalkeeper and Gillingham assistant manager Paul Raynor also dismissed.

A FA update said: “Gillingham FC and Shrewsbury Town FC have been charged with two breaches of FA Rule E20.1 following their EFL League One fixture.

“It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour during the 95th minute of the game.

“It is also alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and/or club officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative and/or violent behaviour during the 99th minute.”

Both clubs have until Tuesday, September 7 to provide their respective responses.
