It’s a coup for Harris, who has chased Adelakun throughout the summer, as the player actually started Lincoln’s first two League 1 matches this season.

Harris said: “Hakeeb is a player I have chased all summer, we had to be patient due to him starting the first two league games at Lincoln.

"I am sure he will add great competition at the attacking end of the pitch."

Adelakun started his career at Crystal Palace and West Ham before turning pro with Scunthorpe. He spent six years with Scunthorpe before moving to Bristol City and then joining Rotherham on loan.

He was part of Hull’s promotion-winning squad from League 1 during a loan spell in 2020/21.

Having joined Lincoln last summer, Adelakun made 29 appearances and scored three goals in the previous campaign.

Adelakun said: "I'm glad to get in and get myself settled and I'm really looking forward to getting going.

“I've had a full pre-season and I'm ready. I like to make things happen in the final third."
