Stevenage sign Gillingham midfielder Dean Parrett

Dean Parrett has ended his time with the Gills after agreeing to sign for League 2 Stevenage.

Gillingham boss Steve Evans made it clear that Parrett wouldn't be in his plans this season and his contract was terminated.

The 27-year-old has now agreed to move to Stevenage, a club he has previously been at.

Parrett signed for the Gills last summer but made just 19 league starts, with another eight appearances off the bench.

The Former Spurs midfielder rejoins Stevenage where he played between October 2013 and July 2016, playing 69 league games for them over that period.

He might well be facing the Gills soon, with Steve Evans' side set to play Stevenage in pre-season on Saturday, July 27.

Upon his departure, Evans said: “During the past few weeks Dean Parrett has conducted himself in the most professional manner and he will be a big player for Stevenage, as he was during his first spell.

“He’s a top pro and we wish every success.”

Parrett is one of two midfielders who Evans was keen to move on, the other being Josh Rees. Former Bromley player Rees was named in the team for their friendly match at Bearsted on Monday and was on the scoresheet for the Gills.
