Rugby player banned for biting

Medway Rugby Club player Arun Sage has been given a three-month ban by the RFU after pleading guilty to biting an opponent.

The offence occured during Medway's 36-20 victory over Bec Old Boys, from Wandsworth, in the fourth round of the EDF Energy Junior Vase on November 22.

After the game Sage was cited by Becs Old Boys player Dave Gregson for biting, while Sage cited Gregson for stamping, and the two cases were dealt with by an RFU disciplinary hearing in London on Monday.

Sage pleaded guilty to biting an opponent and he was suspended for 12 weeks, but the hearing cleared Gregson of the stamping charge.
