Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has earmarked a player he wants to sign on Monday.

With the club facing a busy schedule of games, Stimson is keen to bolster his squad and he’ll be asking chairman Paul Scally for the funds to get his man.

“We need a bit of cover because of the amount of games we’ve got coming up,” said Stimson.

“We have a small squad and the only players we left out (on Saturday) were Luis Cumbers and Albert Jarrett so the squad isn’t that big.”

Stimson wasn’t willing to disclose his transfer target, who he feels will add strength down the left side.

He said: “I know the lad well and I’ve worked with him before. He can nick a goal and has a decent left foot.

“He was available on Friday but it was too late to do anything and I didn’t have time to speak with the chairman.”
