Weekend goalscorer Tim Dieng believes their comeback win at Morecambe provided them with an ideal confidence boost ahead of their final six games.
A 3-2 away win on Saturday keeps the Gills in the mix ahead of their Easter games against Crewe Alexandra (Friday) and Harrogate Town (Monday). Dieng scored the equaliser to make it 2-2 at Morecambe before Connor Mahoney got the winner.

Dieng said: “It was a very good day, I thought we showed character, coming back from 1-0 to 1-1 and then 2-1 to 2-2, a great day at the office for me as well as I scored.
“I think that was a big game for us in terms of where we want to be at the end of the season.
“It shows we have character and anything can happen to us in a game and we can still come out and win, that gives us a lot of confidence at the moment.
“We haven’t come from behind a lot during the season but we have that in us and we showed we can do it.”
The Gills might still need to win four of their remaining six games to clinch a play-off place. Next up is a home game with fifth-placed Crewe on Friday.
Dieng said: “That was a great win and now we focus on Crewe.
“The gaffer always says that back-to-back wins are really important and now we have to do it, we are confident at home and we are ready.
“That win was vital, especially when you look at the table and there are not a lot of games left, before that game there were seven finals and now we have won one, and there are six left.”

There’s still a host of teams scrambling for the final play-off places, the Gills being one of them.
“It is really intense,” said the French midfielder. “It is really tight and I think if we get a good run of wins we could climb the table, that’s what we have to do and that’s why the next one is even more important now.”
His goal for the Gills was well hit, scoring from 25 yards with a shot that dipped over the keeper’s head. The home goalie didn’t have a great day and even Dieng was surprised he let his in!
“I just focused on hitting the target,” he said. “I don’t know how it went in but that’s not my problem.
“I think that’s the furthest out I have scored - with thanks to the wind, and the sun, and the goalkeeper!”
