Gillingham manager Steve Lovell frustrated by refereeing decisions against Tom Eaves

Striker Tom Eaves picked up a booking for persistent infringements on Saturday.

But manager Steve Lovell feels Gills’ leading scorer is being unfairly treated.

Lovell is rarely critical of the officials but couldn’t contain his frustration at the weekend.

He said: “The amount of times he gets fouled and doesn’t get anything, then a simple little tap on the ankle and he (referee Graham Salisbury) gives a free-kick.

“Tom is fouled every single game, he never gets a thing and it is getting ridiculous. It’s happening every week.

“The referees don’t think it is a foul so you can’t argue with it but with the amount of fouls we had against us, I don’t usually say anything, but I thought the referee was picky. He gave us nothing.”

Eaves, 26, scored Gills' second goal of the game at Doncaster, his seventh of the season and his 25th in all competitions since joining on a free at the start of last season.

The striker has 24 league goals from 43 starts.
