Chatham’s huge FA Cup clash with St Albans City can’t come quickly enough for manager Kevin Watson.

Watson has fielded plenty of media attention this week and he’s relieved the pre-match hype is almost over.

He said: “There’s been a lot of build-up and everybody’s looking forward to it, so the sooner it comes, the better.

“There’s been a lot of talk about it but we can’t physically do anything until the day.

“I’m just trying to prepare as usual. If we start to do things differently, it can throw a player. We’re playing a team at a better level and they’re a very good side, but just need to concentrate on ourselves.

“I want the players to know how important the occasion is. I don’t have enough contact with them to affect things that much, though. I just hope none of the publicity affects them negatively.”
