Year Six pupils from Kingfisher Primary notched up the most impressive reading figures and secured the story session for the whole school to enjoy.

Mr Cooper read them his cautionary environmental story The Curious Tale of the Dodo, and gave all 300 pupils in the school a free copy of the book.

The contest was organised by the KM Charity Team and open to schools taking part in its reading reward scheme Buster’s Book Club.

The scheme encourages children to read extra at home with classes competing each week to be awarded the Reading Class of the Week Trophy. A monthly inter-school reading challenge awards winning classes tickets to leisure attractions, books, or visits by storytellers.

Buster’s Book Club is supported by organisations including Little Cheyne Court, Kent Community Foundation, Golding Vision (part of Golding Homes), Orbit, Three R’s Teacher Recruitment, Medway Council, Specsavers, Leeds Castle, Planet Ice, Hornby, Wildwood, and Kent County Council.

Schools can join by visiting www.bustersbookclub.co.uk or contacting Kathy Beel at kbeel@thekmgroup.co.uk
