Emma Giles set up Eva’s Angels after her daughter, Eva, died of brain cancer when she was just five years old.

The charity enables families facing a similar situation to enjoy short breaks together in a special caravan by the seaside in Swalecliffe.

Now Eva’s Angels hopes to use money raised by the quiz to help buy a second caravan so it can provide help, support and respite to more families.

Mrs Giles said: “Eva's Angels offers respite breaks to families affected by childhood cancer.

“By staying in a caravan in Whitstable we hope the families will be able to make lasting memories by the sea, away from hospitals, doctors and scans.

“The money raised for us from the KM Big Quiz will help us to purchase a second caravan in the future so that we can help even more families."

The quiz takes place at the University of Kent’s Sports Centre on Friday April 26. It is open to teams of up to eight people, with doors opening at 6.20pm for a 7pm start.

Quiz organiser Dominic Comins said: “I would struggle to think of a more deserving charity than Eva’s Angels.

“It’s hard to put a price on the service it provides, helping families in a situation that any parent would describe as their very worst nightmare.

“So it would be fantastic if people registered to do the KM Big Quiz on its behalf.”

You can register for the quiz at www.KmBigQuiz.co.uk. The entry price is £65 per eight-person team, but there is a £10 discount when you book using the discount code KMNEWS19.

The money raised will be supplemented by the proceeds of a bar donated by Shepherd Neame, with the takings matched by Barclays.

The quiz is also supported by Specsavers, Office Angels, Eurotunnel, Eurostar, the League of Friends of the Kent and Canterbury Hospital and Hornby.

A share of the charity pot will also go to KM Charity Team services supporting child literacy and road safety, the League of Friends, and one good cause chosen via prize draw.
