Hit the charity jackpot at the Big Quiz

Good causes have the chance to win big money at the KM Big Charity Quiz next month – all they need to do is join in the fun.

Charities submitting at least one quiz team in advance of the event on Friday, February 15 will go into a draw. The prize will be a slice of the proceeds raised on the night and the winner’s share could be up to £1,000.

The Medway heat of the Big Quiz is a firm favourite among trivia fans with last year’s quiz making £7,000 for beneficiaries including the Messenger’s 2018 charity of the year Unit 1 Skatepark, and baby trauma and bereavement care cause Making Miracles.

Booking is open for teams of up to eight to take up the challenge staged by the KM Charity Team at The St George Hotel on New Road Avenue in Chatham.

A partnership of businesses including Office Angels and Independent Music Productions will ensure the smooth running of the event. Staff from Barclays will serve the drinks at the Shepherd Neame charity bar while the bank will double the money raised from refreshment sales.

One lucky quizzer will have the chance to win a £150 DFDS Seaways voucher in return for correctly answering a general knowledge question.

A prize-packed raffle will include goodies donated by Hornby.

Dominic Comins, organiser of the Big Quiz, said: “Good causes will get their names in the draw for each quiz team they muster, so the more they book the better their chances of winning a big cash sum.

“Plus it’s a great night out. There’s a lot of friendly competition and laughter as people find out just how good their teammates’ general knowledge is – or not!

“And we give each team a bottle of wine, fizzy water and a generous selection of snacks on their table to help get the party started.”

The fundraiser will also support the Messenger’s 2019 charity of the year Net Community Hub, as well as road safety and literacy services for schools.
