The toy manufacturer has renewed its support for 10 of the KM Charity Team’s initiatives by donating gift sets worth hundreds of pounds.

The sets will be used as prizes in fundraising raffles at challenge events and awards ceremonies, with the money raised going to charity beneficiaries and helping to fund road-safety and green-travel work with schools.

Hornby’s Ami Dennis-Stirrups said: “Hornby is proud to announce it’s teaming up with the KM Charity Team to support 10 manor charity events.

“These are important local events and we are so pleased to be able to provide support.”

Hornby has been a KM Charity Team corporate supporter for seven years.

KM Charity Team chief executive Simon Dolby said: “Once again, Hornby has shown incredible generosity in donating some fantastic prizes for use in the charity raffles at our awards ceremonies and challenge events.

“These donations really will help to make the difference to young people’s lives, and will give a much-needed boost to some of the county’s most valued charities.

“This is a company with a real commitment to the community in which it operates.”

The sets donated by Hornby were: a Guinea Special train pack worth £300; a Ford Boss Mustang 1970 Frank Gardner worth £41; a Hawker Fury Mk 1 worth £50; an £80 Highland Rambler set; a £50 Sci Fi Speedway set; a £75 Pullman ‘Devon Belle’ observation coach; a Daimler DS420 wedding car worth £23; a 10-piece military Land Rover set worth £60; a £6 Bren gun carrier and 6PDR anti-tank gun; a £6 World War 1 British infantry set; and a £6 Panther tank.

The initiatives Hornby is supporting include the Big Charity Quiz, the Kent Literacy Awards, the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards, the Green School Awards and the Thanet Community Awards.
