Jumping to raise money for Dad's Quest prostate cancer charity

An eight-person parachute jump in aid of the Dad’s Quest prostate cancer appeal takes to the skies at Headcorn airfield tomorrow (Saturday 7). They are raising money towards the £16,000 target to buy two mobile detection scanners for use in the Thanet area.

Charlie Pepper, who launched Dad's Quest in memory of her father who died from the illness a year ago, said: “We chose eight men because of Prost8 - sounds daft but if it attracts attention to our cause then all the better.

“As well as raising money for the scanner, we want to encourage men to have regular screening as a precaution. It is vital.”

The parachutists will be in the air from around 10am, weather permitting, and include three of Charlie’s work colleagues from Hartsdown Technology College at Margate.

Dad's Quest, which is working with two prostate cancer charities, is the chosen campaign for the Isle of Thanet Extra and kmfm for Thanet for 2009, and we are planning a high profile fund-raising event towards the end of the year.

The next big event is a quiz night at Hartsdown College on Friday, March 27, with free blood testing by qualified medical staff from 6.30pm.

Charlie added: “The level of support so far has been brilliant and I want to thank all our supporters for their encouragement and commitment.”
