Police support £1m cancer unit appeal

Medway Police are hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for a new cancer centre based in the Towns.

Neighbourhood teams based at Police HQ in Purser Way, Gillingham, have been co-ordinating the effort in support of the

Macmillan Cancer Care Unit at Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham.

Thirty cash collection pots around the police station are now beginning to fill up.

It's hoped that the money raised will help the charity reach its £1million target.

PCSO supervisor Rikki McMachan, part of Medway's neighbourhood policing team, said:"The officers and staff at Medway have been keen to support this campaign and many of the collection pots are filling up quickly.

"I hope that our fund raising efforts will help Macmillan Cancer Support to reach their target."
