Actor Shaun Williamson provided the star appeal at the Rotary regional conference on Sunday.

Mr Williamson is Patron of the British Wireless for the Blind Fund, which celebrates its 90th anniversary next year, and addressed 200 Rotarians from Kent and East Sussex to encourage support for the charity.

Also addressing delegates were Clive Emson on behalf of Young Lives, and Simon Dolby of the KM Charity Team promoting the engaging children's reading reward scheme Buster's Book Club.

Also attending from the county were Hi Kent and Medical Detection Dogs.

Simon Dolby from KM Charity Team said the Rotary event, staged in Bournemouth, highlighted a number of ways his educational charity and local Rotary groups could work together.

Rotary's 2018 regional conference will be staged in Canterbury.
