Adrian Oliver has created a haven for cyclists with his cafe/bar and cycle workshop The Freewheel in Graveney, near Faversham and he is keen to spread the word about the upcoming challenge day.

Mr Oliver, said: “We are delighted to be involved with the Big Bike Ride and want to see more people out on their bikes enjoying themselves. Opportunities like this which promote cycling and do so for such good causes is something very dear to us.”

He added: “The 50K route is perfect for newcomers or more casual riders, whilst the 100K route will satisfy competitive riders, so bring out the Lycra!”

Both routes will start and finish at Betteshanger Park, near Deal on Sunday, April 24. Participants are able to book their place online now at www.kmbigbikeride.co.uk or simply pay upon arrival on the day. Those booking online can apply code KMPRBB16 for a £5 discount.

The 50K route will take cyclists through some beautiful Kent countryside, whilst the Locks of Sandwich Cycles-supported 100K ride spans miles of glorious coastline.

All riders will receive a goody bag and souvenir medal upon completion, plus a sportive photograph.

Lisa Craig, events manager at the KM Charity Team, said: “We share a creative vision with The Freewheel in that we both wish to see more people out on their bikes, getting active and supporting the local community. We are thrilled to have their support for the event and will be aiming to provide an even bigger, better day than last year’s record-breaker.”

The Vattenfall-partnered ride is open to all levels of ability and anyone aged 12 and up.

Riders aged 12-17 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
