A NEW report commissioned by the Office of Fair Trading examining how the estate agency industry needs to offer improved service standards has been welcomed by a leading estate agency.
Bradford & Bingley Estate Agents believe that the report’s recommendations are a step in the right direction and are urging homebuyers and sellers to take heed of the findings to ensure they get the best service available.
Simon Bland, manager of Bradford & Bingley Canterbury, said: “I welcome the recommendations outlined in the OFT report, especially the comments on commitment to customer service.
"All staff within our branches nationwide are trained to a high standard and I think it’s an issue that is key to the success of our business.”
As well as requiring higher service standards, the report calls for agents to present their fees in both percentage and monetary terms, maintain written records of all offers and ensure that estate agency contracts are clear and concise.
Mr Bland added: “I agree with recommendations for a clearer sales process and I am pleased with the measures the OFT are suggesting.
“Any trustworthy and skilled agent will already practice to a high standard and should not be concerned by the recommendations of this report.”
